Recreational trails

Malcolm Knapp Research Forest is open from dawn till dusk, every day of the year. However, during fire season (April 1 - September 30), if the fire hazard is extreme, the forest may be closed to the general public. Please check our main page to find out whether the forest is open or closed to public access.

South MKRF Trail Map - Four colour coded loop trails - Red, Yellow, Green and Blue - begin and end near the research forest gate. Click on the link to download and print your own colour copy of the trail map.

Loon Lake Trail Map - The Loon Lake Trail is for guests of Loon Lake Research and Education Centre wishing to embark on an energetic 6 km hike.
